"He chose me himself." In Gomel, a 19-year-old girl is raising money for her own horse
The publication "Mocnyja Naviny" asked residents of Gomel what they are saving money for. Among stories about vacations, pensions, and sofas, the account of 19-year-old Darya from Gomel stood out, as she is raising 3.5 thousand rubles to buy her own horse.
The Gomel resident was involved in equestrian sports since childhood, but due to a severe knee injury, she had to quit training and sell her own animal. Two years ago, however, Darya returned to the saddle and met her horse at a mini-farm near the agro-town of Uritskae.
"I fell in love with the foal at first sight and, you could say, put him on his feet. The little one grew up with a strong character and doesn't let anyone near him except me. I understood – he chose me himself! When it was time to say goodbye, or rather to move to the city for work, I talked with the owner and we agreed that while he's young, I will pick him up in a year," the girl recounted.
The owner agreed to wait: the foal costs 3.5 thousand rubles, Darya only needs to collect another thousand. As soon as the full amount is in her pocket, the foal will move to the equestrian complex on Gomel's Shilov Street, where the owner plans to personally care for her new friend and train with him. This was a childhood dream.
For now, the girl visits her beloved on weekends and in her free time. Darya works in the field of education in Gomel.
