Law enforcement warn about a new fraud scheme whose victims are minors. Attackers exploit children's desire to quickly complete homework to gain access to their personal data and parents' money.

The scheme begins with searching the internet for ready-made answers to school assignments. A teenager goes to a fake website that looks like a regular educational resource. To gain access to the solutions, the website offers to register and enter a mobile phone number, surname, first name, patronymic, date of birth, and place of residence. Children often do not realize that this information can be used against them.

After registration, scammers get involved. They call the child, introduce themselves as the school principal or a teacher, and demand that the child send a code from an SMS or other confidential data, allegedly to activate an electronic diary.

Having gained access to accounts or personal information, the attackers begin to manipulate children. Their goal is to force minors into criminal actions, such as transferring money or taking out loans, and then extorting funds from parents.

To protect children from cyber fraudsters, law enforcement advises parents to talk to them about internet safety. It is important to explain that personal information, SMS codes, and passwords should not be disclosed to strangers.

Parents are also recommended to monitor which websites their child visits and to install parental control tools.
