"If this [Democrats' victory] happens, I will become Mr. Veto," Trump promised in an interview with Fox News host Miranda Devine for her podcast Pod Force One, reports Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's Russian Service.
He also stated that the constant use of the veto power could force Democratic congressmen to "make a deal" with the president.
Midterm elections [so called because they occur in the period between U.S. presidential elections, when congressional elections also take place — NN] for the U.S. Congress will be held on November 3. According to poll results, the Republican Party, to which Trump belongs, is losing to the Democrats. Democrats could gain a significant majority in the House of Representatives and a small advantage in the Senate — the upper chamber of the American parliament.
Donald Trump is actively participating in the election campaign, visiting various U.S. states and urging voters to cast their ballots for Republicans.
In September, he promised to pay every adult American five thousand dollars if Republicans win the elections, calling it a "Trump dividend."
In mid-October, Trump's team went to court demanding the annulment of election results in Alaska if a Democratic candidate won. On November 1, a federal judge ruled to dismiss this lawsuit.
