Lukashenka again ordered to stop "mad housing construction" in Minsk
Alexander Lukashenka stated at a meeting on April 30 that it is necessary to stop the outflow of population from the regions to Minsk and regional centers, writes BelTA. According to him, people should have the opportunity to live and work in their cities and districts, so the development of regions should be made one of the main state priorities.

Separately, he criticized the large volumes of housing construction in the capital. Lukashenka called this the "mad development" of Minsk and noted that massive construction of apartments in the city attracts more and more people from the regions. He also observed that housing in Minsk is also bought by Russian citizens.
At the same time, according to him, construction in the capital will not be completely stopped. The necessary amount of rental housing should continue to be built in Minsk, but the main focus is proposed to be shifted to the regions.
Lukashenka noted that some agricultural enterprises already lack local workers, so people are brought in from district centers. In his opinion, this indicates the need to develop district centers and agro-towns more strongly.
He proposed creating not only housing there, but also conditions for recreation, development, and comfortable living, so that people do not strive to move to the capital.
Lukashenka also stated that less overpopulation of Minsk would benefit the Minskers themselves, as the city would remain convenient and comfortable for living.
This is far from the first time Lukashenka has addressed this topic in his public speeches. For the past years and even decades, he has regularly stated that housing construction in Minsk must stop, and gives strict orders in this regard. Nevertheless, the development of the capital continues regardless.
