38-year-old lawyer from Grodno imprisoned for "insulting" Lukashenka and "extremism"
Yury Yadkouski received a sentence under two political articles.

Yury Yadkouski is 38 years old. He is from Grodno. After school, he received higher education at the Faculty of Law of the Belarusian Institute of Jurisprudence. His last known place of employment was "Apis Plus". This is a Grodno company specializing in the installation of metal and interior doors, and also providing various household services.
For several years, Yury has been independently studying programming and wants to become an IT specialist. He completed several specialized courses and was looking for a job.
Yadkouski was arrested last year and placed in a pre-trial detention center. Recently, Yury was convicted in the Grodno Regional Court under Part 1 of Art. 368 (insulting Lukashenka) and Parts 1 and 2 of Art. 361-4 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (facilitating extremist activity).
Yury Yadkouski was sentenced to a colony or "chemistry" (penal open-type correctional institution) with referral.
The Belarusian authorities consider "extremism" to be subscriptions to independent channels, media, the presence of links to them on social networks, or the presence of Belarusian national, pre-Lukashenka symbols on social networks or items. "Extremism" also includes practically any criticism of the authorities, official historical narratives, or expressions of solidarity with Ukraine. Many recent criminal cases under the article on "facilitating extremism" were related to the "Hayun case".
