Cuba's energy system is in a critical state due to the American blockade, Cuban Minister of Energy Vicente de la O Levy stated on the TV program Mesa Redonda.
"We have absolutely no fuel oil and absolutely no diesel fuel. We have no reserves," he said.
The minister acknowledged that the number of power outages in Havana has sharply increased, with many areas of the capital experiencing no electricity for 22 hours a day.
At the end of January, Donald Trump declared a state of emergency due to a national security threat from Cuba. This allowed the US to impose additional tariffs on imports from countries supplying oil to the island.
