Strange foam appeared on the water in Loshytski Park. What is it from?
Minsk residents were concerned by the abundant foam that appeared on the water in Loshytski Park. There was especially a lot of it in the canal section after the turbine. Some eyewitnesses on social networks suggested that it might be related to pollution discharges, as the water has an unusual appearance and smell. Others believed that the phenomenon is natural and caused by rains and plant pollen, the Minsk-Novosti agency writes .

The administration of the Leninsky district explained that such foam formation is observed annually during periods of heavy rainfall. When water falls from a height and mixes with air, foam is formed.
Specialists also noted that during the warm season, microorganisms and algae actively develop in water bodies. They, along with pollen and stirred-up silt, can additionally influence the appearance of foam.
According to officials, this phenomenon does not pose a danger to birds and fish.
