A mural featuring pilot Mikita Kukanenka is being created in Polotsk

Local publication "Polotsky Vestnik" reported on the preparations for the opening of a mural commemorating pilot Mikita Kukanenka, a native of Polotsk.

Pilots Andrei Nichyporchik and Mikita Kukanenka died on May 19, 2021. A Yak-130 military aircraft of the Lida Assault Aviation Base crashed during a training flight. Andrei and Mikita decided to steer the aircraft away from residential buildings in Baranavichy. In November 2021, they were awarded the title Heroes of Belarus.
