What is known about the ex-officer of Lukashenka's Security Service Andrei Spasau, who was imprisoned for politics
Andrei Spasau is a master of sports, a paratrooper. Until 2020, he worked in Lukashenka's Security Service. It recently became known that Spasau was convicted under political criminal articles. The exact term of the sentence is not yet known, but the fact is that the former officer is now serving his sentence in a penal colony.

Andrei Spasau is 49 years old. From childhood, his life was inextricably linked with sports. The young man successfully graduated from the Brest Olympic Reserve College and became a master of sports in boxing.
Spasau's career in law enforcement began with military service, where he joined the 38th Brest Airborne Brigade. Already a master of sports, he was part of the brigade's hand-to-hand combat team and repeatedly brought home medals from various competitions.
After completing his conscription service, Andrei decided to stay in the army. He continued to serve in an officer special forces unit, which later redeployed to Vitebsk. This is also confirmed by Belpol's data.
Acquaintances call him "a warrior by nature, who did not seek easy bread, but simply wanted to engage in a true masculine profession and defend his homeland."
Over time, Andrei's career advanced — he moved to serve in the President's Security Service. According to his acquaintance, this step was dictated not by a desire to curry favor or be closer to Lukashenka, but by the fact that this unit offered good conditions for professional development.
However, in 2020 (or even a little earlier) he resigned. An acquaintance says that this happened because the officer encountered things that were incompatible with his concepts of honor and dignity. "A warrior by nature who chose honor," says our interlocutor. After this, Andrei, judging by his social networks, worked in blue-collar professions — as a builder, stove maker, welder.
It is also known that in the last years before 2020, Spasau traveled on business trips to Africa for "Belgeopoisk" (Belarusian Geological Exploration).
However, it recently became known that the man was convicted in the Minsk Regional Court. The exact circumstances of his detention and prosecution have not been revealed anywhere, but it is known that this happened in the second half of 2025.
Andrei Spasau was found guilty under parts 1 and 2 of Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (aiding extremist activity). The former officer is now in a penal colony.
