Representatives of relevant departments and local authorities, including the leadership of the regions and Minsk City Executive Committee, were summoned to the meeting. During the meeting, the pace of construction, the implementation of state programs, and the use of budget funds were discussed. It turned out that in the first months of 2026, there was no significant progress in a number of regions.
The Prime Minister paid special attention to the work of officials responsible for the construction sector, including the Minister of Architecture and Construction, Alexander Studnev.
He demanded a quick rectification of the situation and warned that if there were no improvements by the end of the first five months of this year, personnel decisions could be made — essentially, this refers to possible dismissals, including at the ministerial level.
Alexander Studnev has not held his position for very long — he was appointed minister in March 2025.
Authorities are now focusing on accelerating housing commissioning and fulfilling state construction plans. For 2026, the task is set to construct approximately 4 million square meters of housing. This is less than last year, when about 4.4 million square meters were built.
The main problems are observed in the regions, where construction deadlines are often missed and the utilization of funding is delayed. In this regard, the situation has been placed under strict government control.
