Slovenian Prime Minister Becomes Nationalist and Trump Supporter

The Slovenian parliament appointed Janez Janša, leader of the right-wing Slovenian Democratic Party, as the country's new prime minister, writes "European Pravda".

51 out of 90 deputies voted for Janez Janša's candidacy, while 36 voted against. After this, Janša was given 15 days to present the composition of his government.

This appointment effectively ended the political crisis in the country, which arose after the parliamentary elections in March. At that time, the liberal movement of former Prime Minister Robert Golob won with a small margin, but he failed to form a coalition and gain a majority in parliament. As a result, he conceded defeat and moved to the opposition.

For Janez Janša, this is his fourth term as head of government. Previously, he led the country in 2004-2008, 2012-2013, and 2020-2022.

Janša is known as a nationalist politician; previously he repeatedly expressed support for US President Donald Trump.
