These conservative estimates by the OSINT project Oryx, which only records visually confirmed losses, debunk the myth of the "world's second army."

The Oryx project continues to meticulously track Russian losses, relying exclusively on photo and video evidence, making their statistics among the most reliable in open sources. As reported by The Insider, which analyzed the latest data, Russia's total confirmed losses have already exceeded 23,000 units of various equipment.
The heaviest losses were suffered by armored forces, which irrevocably lost 4390 tanks and 6429 infantry fighting vehicles. To this list, 730 armored personnel carriers and almost 2400 other diverse armored fighting vehicles should be added.
No less significant losses were incurred in other branches of the military. Air defense systems lost 416 complexes, and reconnaissance lost 130 radar stations. In the air, the Russian army lost 184 aircraft and 175 helicopters. Even the navy, which theoretically should not have faced serious resistance at sea, irrevocably lost 33 ships and submarines.
The project's authors always emphasize that their list is only the most conservative estimate of the real situation, as it does not include equipment without visual confirmation. Each entry is carefully checked for duplication, and the exact status of each unit of equipment is indicated: destroyed, damaged, abandoned, or captured.
The scale of Russian losses turned out to be so vast that it encountered unexpected technical limitations. As reported by Jakub Janovsky, one of the project's authors, the total list reached the maximum article size allowed by the Blogger platform. To temporarily solve the problem, researchers had to shorten the metadata of hyperlinks to evidence.
