Initially, the predator attacked an employee in the parking lot of one of the enterprises. The man only managed to escape thanks to a car driver who chased the bear away with his vehicle. The animal then ran into a nearby office building, where it attacked another person, and subsequently injured two more.

Later, the bear entered an electronics factory. According to employee testimonies, it independently opened a tap and drank water from it.

Special services were deployed to catch the animal, using tranquilizer guns. Traps were placed near the entrances, but the bear managed to evade them. Reportedly, it independently opened a locked window and escaped from the building.

Local authorities noted that the animal was hit by a tranquilizer, but for some unknown reason, the drug did not take effect. Mayor Yuki Baba called the bear exceptionally intelligent, highlighting its ability to use a tap and open a window.

Police, hunters, government services, and drone operators joined the search. So far, the animal has not been found.

Due to the threat of attacks, schools in the area were temporarily closed but have now reopened with additional security measures.

According to Japanese media, 13 people have died from bear attacks in the country over the past year, and the number of serious incidents has reached a record level. Experts attribute this to climate change, a lack of food in the wild, and a shrinking rural population. In this regard, Japan has even changed its legislation, allowing the use of firearms against bears in populated areas in certain emergency cases.
