Netanyahu stated that Arab parties "stole the elections" in Israel
Netanyahu's Likud party claims that Arab parties used bribery, threats, violence, document forgery, and prohibited programs to mobilize voters.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party accused Arab parties of falsifying the parliamentary elections held on October 27, Bild reports.
"The elections in the State of Israel were stolen by Arab parties," read a joint statement published on Instagram.
Likud claims that the Arab parties Ra'am and the Joint List used bribery, threats, violence, document forgery, and prohibited programs to mobilize voters.
Netanyahu's party demanded an immediate investigation and announced its intention to hand over hundreds of testimonies and evidence of alleged violations to the police, the Shin Bet internal security service, and the Central Election Commission.
Among them, according to Likud's claims, are thousands of envelopes containing cash and Ra'am ballots. However, a representative of the election commission dismissed the accusations in an interview with Channel 12. According to Israeli media, the police have also not yet found evidence of large-scale falsifications.
The accusations came amid the vote count.
According to preliminary results, Netanyahu's bloc receives 53 seats in the 120-seat Knesset, the opposition led by Gadi Eisenkot — 48, and Arab parties — a record 19.
A parliamentary majority requires 61 seats, which neither of the two main blocs currently has. Thus, Arab parties could play a decisive role in forming the next government.
The final election results are expected today.
