A ropeway will be built and boat rentals will open at the chalk quarries near Vawkavysk
In November, entrepreneurs will begin to be offered land plots in the territory of the chalk quarries near Vawkavysk, known as the 'Belarusian Maldives'. This was reported on the ONT TV channel by Dmitry Zakharchuk, chairman of the Vawkavysk District Executive Committee.

The chalk quarries of Krasnaselskboodmateryyaly JSC are popular among Belarusians as a place for photo shoots. They are called the 'Belarusian Maldives' due to their blue water and snow-white shores. For a long time, visiting this territory was prohibited due to the danger of landslides and steep cliffs, but this did not stop thousands of people from coming here annually. In 2023, the enterprise developed a tourist route that allows safe visits to the quarries.
Last winter, the future of the quarries was discussed at the second meeting of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, and in May the territory was recognized as a geological natural monument of local importance. This allowed for the start of economic activity here.
The idea of complete recultivation of the quarries was abandoned, as it would cost tens of millions of rubles. According to the chairman of the district executive committee, the most picturesque places were decided to be preserved for tourists.
The territory, covering 350 hectares, was divided into sectors, and plots were designated for the construction of a hotel, a cafe, a tent camp, glamping sites, and saunas. Separate zones are provided for fishing, extreme sports, a ropeway, boat and SUP board rentals. Routes for bicycles, quad bikes, and motorcycles are also planned. All dangerous areas will be fenced off.
Local authorities promise to resolve the necessary formalities in November and begin offering land plots to entrepreneurs. The district executive committee also counts on the help of residents of the Vawkavysk district in tidying up the territory and building tourist facilities.
