Notorious prison on wheels on show in one of amusement parks in Minsk
June 1 is traditionally celebrated in Belarus as the International Children's Day. On this day most amusement parks in Belarus allow children to go for a ride free of charge. This year a new attraction was on show in the Gorky Park in Minsk – the notorious “karobachka” (‘little box’), which is used by riot policemen to transport detained participants of opposition rallies (sometimes they are also used during football or hockey marches).
“Karobachka” first appeared on Minsk streets during the violent dispersal of March demonstrations in Minsk in 2006.
“Karobachka” enjoyed high popularity among children and their parents, who happily squeezed themselves into its womb in order to take a sit on a bench for the arrested.
