The Kremlin has stated that Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump and founder of Affinity Partners, will be the main author of possible further adjustments to the peace plan proposed by the Americans to end the war in Ukraine. This was announced by Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov in an interview with propagandist Pavel Zarubin.

"In many ways, if a plan that leads to a settlement continues to be drawn up on paper, then Mr. Kushner will largely be the one wielding the pen," said Yuri Ushakov.

He noted that Kushner's presence at the recent meeting in the Kremlin greatly contributed to the negotiations, as it gave the conversation "more system" and was a good addition to the "charm and friendliness" of US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. He also emphasized that Putin and Witkoff spoke very amicably and quickly found common ground.

Putin's negotiations with Witkoff and Kushner took place on December 2. The American representatives brought to Moscow a draft peace plan proposed and agreed upon with Kyiv and the European Union. However, according to sources at NBC News, Putin refused to compromise on several key issues: the status of the Donbass territories, the limitation of the size of the Ukrainian army, and the international recognition of the territories seized by Russia. Before the meeting, the Americans were kept waiting for about three hours while Putin was speaking at the "Russia Calling!" forum.

After a five-hour conversation, Ushakov reported that there was still no compromise version of the document: Moscow was satisfied with some of the US proposals, and not with others. At the same time, the parties agreed not to disclose the details of the negotiations.

After the conversation in the Kremlin, Witkoff and Kushner abandoned the planned meeting with Vladimir Zelensky and immediately returned to Washington, although they had initially intended to visit Brussels as well.

US President Donald Trump later noted that the negotiations between his representatives and Putin went "very well." According to him, the negotiators had the impression that Putin wants to end the war and return to normal life. Trump also stated that the current terms of the agreement have become worse for Kyiv than they were during his last meeting with Zelensky.
