Roman Basalai is a high-class embedded systems specialist with a serious scientific background. He was recently convicted of "facilitating extremist activity".

Raman Basalai is 43 years old. He is a graduate of Polotsk State University: in 2004, he graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering with honors, after which he pursued postgraduate studies.
Raman is a man of science. Behind him are victories in physics and mathematics Olympiads, scientific publications, and four patent applications. He has diverse interests: from playing drums to radio electronics. He has a wife and a minor daughter.
For a long time, the man worked as a network design engineer, and from December 2023, he joined Passat Innovations as a developer. There, he was involved in creating drivers for chips, developing intelligent uninterruptible power supplies, and voice communication systems.
Basalai's level is shown by his rating on the CodeWars platform: the Belarusian was among the top 0.168% of users for solving C/C++ problems and ranked 1183rd out of millions of platform users.

Raman was detained in April 2025. The Minsk Regional Court found him guilty under parts 1 and 2 of Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code ('facilitating extremist activity').
Since then, he has not appeared online — it seems Raman's punishment involves deprivation of liberty.
