In recent years, Belarusians have complained that the quality of the internet has deteriorated.

Deputies are working on a bill that will increase fines for providers for slow internet. The document has already been considered in the first reading.

It is planned that for legal entities, the fine will be up to 1000 basic units, and for individual entrepreneurs — up to 200 basic units, Yury Panfilov, a deputy of the House of Representatives, said on STB. Currently, this amounts to 45 thousand and 9 thousand rubles, respectively.

"If the quality of communication is not met, and BelDIE conducts measurements across the country, then it makes claims against the operator. In case of non-compliance, [the operator] can be held accountable according to this Article 23.1, part 2," the deputy said.

Currently, this article of the Administrative Code prescribes a fine of up to 20 basic units.

As a reminder, since the beginning of this year, mobile operators can be fined for poor quality internet.
