Khabirov emphasized that the project is not for entertainment but serves an important state task — the preservation of biological diversity. According to the official, through this action, Bashkortostan "pays its debts to nature." He added that the conditions in the republic for breeding bison are very favorable.
The project for breeding Białowieża bison in Bashkortostan has been underway since 2023. To date, the number of animals has reached 25 heads, including 8 calves born in the republic. Local authorities hope that by 2030, the number of bison will increase to 50 individuals.
