Lenticular (or lens-shaped) clouds are a rare phenomenon for the flat landscape of Belarus, writes "Smartpress". They form when moist air currents encounter obstacles in their path, such as hills or highlands.

The Mozyr and Mogilev regions are suitable locations for their appearance in our country. Mozyr is located on one of the highest points in the country — the Mozyr Ridge, and the relief of Mogilev is distinguished by its hills and altitude changes. It is precisely these local features that create the necessary barriers for the air.

The main feature of these clouds is that they appear motionless even in strong winds. In reality, air passes through them: on one side the cloud constantly forms, and on the other — it dissipates.

For Belarus, every appearance of such "lenses" becomes a significant event for observers. As a rule, their detection indicates an impending change in weather.
