Denmark has simplified the entry rules for the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Now, people who have a residence permit in any Schengen country can enter without additional permits.

Previously, citizens from non-EU countries had to obtain a separate Danish visa with a special mark for these territories. Now, it is sufficient to have only a resident card from any Schengen country.

However, there is an exception: the new rules do not apply to those who only have a long-term Type D visa — in such a case, as before, a separate visa is required.

The Faroe Islands can be reached by plane or ferry from Denmark, and Greenland can only be reached by air, mainly from Denmark or Iceland.
