The "Dynamo" Sports Complex in Minsk Reopens After Reconstruction. No More Book Fairs There. PHOTOS
After two years of reconstruction, the Minsk sports complex "Dynamo", located on Daumana Street, has reopened. A photographer from "Onliner" visited the site and saw how the complex's appearance has changed.
The famous sports center, located on the left bank of the Svislach River, between Daumana Street, Masherov Avenue, and Kanatny Lane, was built back in 1978. Over many years of operation, the complex became outdated and clearly needed reconstruction. It started in the spring of 2024.
From the old "Dynamo", essentially only the frame remained — the building was completely redesigned. Now the sports complex looks like this.
The appearance of the sports complex has been modernized. Mirrored sandwich panels in white and blue, corresponding to "Dynamo"'s corporate colors, have appeared, with aluminum stained-glass windows installed between them. The famous letter "D" adorns the building's facade.
As Valery Makrytsky, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Minsk Inter-territorial Organizational Structure of the BFST "Dynamo", told "Onliner", all work was completed on January 30, and students of the Dynamo sports school are already training in the halls.
"We have received the relevant documents. Starting early April, we will be negotiating and signing contracts with potential tenants," he says.
According to Makrytsky, the sports complex has everything necessary for competitions at republican and international levels. He added that several football and mini-football clubs already want to move into the universal sports hall. Among them are "Dynamo", "Minsk", and "Stalitsa".
In this universal hall, one can play football, handball, basketball, and volleyball.
Below is an indoor athletics arena with a zone for team sports.
Fans will be able to sit on the balconies. Permanent stands are not planned here. This is due to safety regulations.
The rhythmic gymnastics area has been modernized. Children are already practicing here.
A nice bonus for visitors to the sports complex is the climbing wall.
Wrestlers will be able to train on two mats.
This is what the fencing hall looks like now.
And finally, the sports complex now has an elevator, which it lacked before the reconstruction.
Many are curious whether the famous night book fair will return to "Dynamo" after the reconstruction. As Valery Makrytsky explained, such events, as well as pet exhibitions, will no longer be held at the sports complex. The facility will be used exclusively for sports.
