"Viasna" Hacked? No, It's a Fake
Special services published recordings of old internal meetings and trainings of "Viasna" that they managed to obtain in 2021 during the arrests of human rights defenders. But propagandists are lying, claiming it's supposedly the result of a fresh hack.
The published videos show seminars for volunteers that took place before 2021. People were then explained how to behave if detained, how to talk to the police, and what to do if they ended up in a police van. This was traditional human rights education, so people would know their rights.
These videos and documents were seized by law enforcement five years ago, during searches in 2020-2021. These same files were featured in the trial of Ales Bialiatski and other "Viasna" members.
Propaganda pulled files from investigative archives and decided to present them as fresh hacker spoils.
The human rights defenders themselves say there are no signs of a new data leak.
