It was initially reported that the restrictions would be in effect until 1:30 AM on April 10, after which this period was extended until 3:30 AM.

The reason cited is another hybrid attack from Belarus. Air balloons carrying contraband have again been detected in civil aviation flight zones.

For security reasons, night flights are delayed, diverted, or canceled.

On April 2, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, responding to a question regarding the prospects for dialogue with Lukashenka's Belarus, said:

«If, in the next few weeks, within four weeks, there are no balloons, no illegal migrants, all trucks successfully return to Lithuania, and the regime genuinely demonstrates efforts to normalize relations, at least without creating tension for its neighbor, we will consider this a sign of goodwill and, perhaps, begin such a dialogue. However, for this, there must be very clear conditions, and those that exist at the moment are very far from what could be imagined for starting a dialogue».
