Moldova has officially launched the procedure for withdrawal from the CIS. The head of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, confirmed that the organization's secretariat in Minsk has already received and registered the corresponding notification. According to international norms, in one year — on April 8, 2027 — the country will finally cease to be part of the structure.

This will complete Chisinau's multi-year distancing from the post-Soviet association. Over the past four years, Moldovan representatives have completely ignored CIS and EAEU meetings, and by the end of 2025, the country managed to cancel about 70 different treaties and agreements signed within the union.

Currently, Moldova's main goal is to prepare for accession to the European Union as quickly as possible.
