At the Grigorovshchina checkpoint on the Belarusian-Latvian border, Vitebsk customs officers prevented an attempt to illegally import pills containing psychotropic substances into Belarus, reports the press service of the State Customs Committee.

The pills were being smuggled by a Latvian citizen who was traveling as a passenger in a car. The reaction of a service dog indicated that he might be carrying prohibited substances.

During the inspection, yellow and purple pills were found among the man's personal belongings — they were hidden in a tube keychain and in a jar labeled "Multivitamins".

Experts determined that these pills contained dangerous psychotropic substances — tramadol and alprazolam.

A criminal case has been initiated against the man. He could face up to seven years in prison.
