Belarusians are massively switching to mountain bikes
Mountain bikes (MTB) have become the most popular model of bicycles in Belarus. According to data from the online hypermarket 21vek.by, "mountain bikes" account for 56% of sales, writes Smartpress.

In a country where there are no high mountains, these "tanks" proved to be ideally suited to Belarusian realities: potholes, curbs, dirt roads, and forest paths. Versatility, reliable shock absorption, and comfortable seating have made "mountain bikes" a truly popular choice — from daily commutes to family trips to the dacha (country house).
According to the online hypermarket's statistics, bicycle sales in general increased by almost 23% in 2025 compared to 2024, and in the first quarter of 2026, Belarusians have already purchased almost 7,000 bicycles — despite the winter months.
The main demand is for budget models — their share is about 95% of sales. The average check for a bicycle purchase on 21vek.by in 2026 is 446.89 rubles — compared to 2024, it decreased by more than 60 rubles (it was 507.86 rubles).
