Human rights activist Nasta Loika, who spent over 3.5 years behind bars and was released in March 2026, saw her dog Erik for the first time. She feared she would never meet him again.

Nasta saw the dog via video call. For the past few years, he has been living "his best life with wonderful people with picturesque walks in the forests, lakes, and mountains" in the Czech Republic, together with Nasta's friends.

"We decided not to drag him to me in Warsaw. I'm waiting for legalization, a travel document — and I'll go visit him immediately. For now, I'm walking with a new friend [of Iryna Arakhouskaya] from the dog shelter in the mornings, this is Meshi, I'll write the next post about her. I'm very lucky with friendship and social support. Love and solidarity truly save the world," wrote Nasta Loika.
