Russian pensioner Hanna Buyanova, to whom Medvedev said "No money, but you hang in there," has died, reports the "Post" project.

The meme "No money, but you hang in there" was born in 2016, when the then Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev visited Feodosia in occupied Crimea. He was then surrounded by a crowd of residents. 60-year-old Hanna Buyanova was outraged by the size of her pension, and Medvedev made excuses.

"There's just no money. We'll find money, we'll do indexation. You hold on here, all the best, have a good mood," — that's how Medvedev's words sounded, but people shortened them to the well-known phrase.

Buyanova lived in the village of Novapokrovka. Farming was her main source of income: she kept poultry, grew vegetables and fruits. Hanna had 30 years of work experience. After meeting with Medvedev, her pension was raised, but by an amount 6 times smaller than promised.

Reporters visited Hanna several times. But for the last six years, nothing was known about her life.

"She worked in various places. She worked in a canteen. She was retired. There was no farm anymore, so as not to burden her," — said Buyanova's youngest son, Nikolai. According to him, her pension was raised by 500 rubles, he does not recall any special social assistance for his mother.

In April last year, Hanna had her first stroke, and at the end of July — her second. Buyanova died on August 2, 2025.
