Mexico national team goalkeeper to attend sixth FIFA World Cup
Guillermo Ochoa will become one of the absolute record holders in the history of FIFA World Cups.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper of the Mexico national team and Cypriot AEL Limassol, Guillermo Ochoa, will be included in the national squad for the final tournament of the 2026 World Cup, reports insider Fabrizio Romano.
Thus, the goalkeeper will travel to his sixth World Cup. This is a record — no one has previously participated in so many World Cups. Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal and Lionel Messi of Argentina may achieve the same feat this year.
After the tournament, Ochoa will end his playing career. He will turn 41 on July 13.
Previously, Mexico's main goalkeeper Luis Malagón suffered an injury and will miss the World Cup. But Ochoa will be the second, or even third, goalkeeper in the national team squad.
Guillermo first went to the World Cup in 2006, but that year and in the next championship in 2010, he was the third goalkeeper, and debuted at the World Cup in 2014.
He has played 152 matches for the Mexico national team. He has won the CONCACAF Gold Cup (the main national team tournament in North and Central America) six times.
Mexico will play in Group A with the Czech Republic, South Korea, and South Africa at the 2026 World Cup.
