Head of "Free Choir" Halina Kazimiroŭskaja Faced a Serious Illness. A Large Sum Was Almost Collected for Her Within a Day, Only a Little is Missing
Yesterday, Halina Kazimiroŭskaja announced on "BySol" that she has oncology (cancer) and is currently unable to pay apartment rent, buy basic groceries, or afford expensive medications. It is necessary to raise 8500 euros.
«The name of Halina Kazimiroŭskaja has become a synonym for courage for many Belarusians. Today, Halina, who survived arrest, interrogations, days at Akrescina, and forced emigration, has encountered an enemy that cannot be defeated by song — oncology (cancer). In 2020, "Free Choir" transformed music into a significant instrument of peaceful protest. Under the vaults of shopping centers and on the steps of philharmonics, hundreds of voices sang of freedom, until the regime declared the collective an "extremist formation." Halina and her family were forced to emigrate, as were many members of the choir, due to political persecution. (…)
Despite enormous dedication, this activity brought Halina almost no income. The only source of livelihood was private vocal lessons. But at the beginning of this year, everything changed.
The diagnosis of "oncology (cancer)" became a challenge for Halina that requires our help and support. After going through shock and denial, she accepted the challenge and is fighting the disease with all her might. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy, with surgery and further courses of chemo- and radiotherapy ahead.
Each course of chemotherapy is an exhausting battle. Each recovery takes several days, and just as you regain strength, a new dose of strong drugs drains you of energy. In this condition, Halina cannot work, and at present, she simply has no money for the basic needs of her family — housing payments, food, and with two minor children, these expenses cannot be significantly reduced.
Chemotherapy has severely affected her overall health. The toxicity of the chemicals damages the liver and other organs, worsens her general condition, and brings a lot of pain. Throughout the treatment, rather expensive medications are needed to help support the body and reduce severe pain.
Halina is used to relying only on herself. But now she finds herself in a desperate situation: the illness has deprived her of the ability to teach, which means it has deprived her of her livelihood.
She is unable to pay apartment rent, buy basic groceries, or afford expensive medications to recover her body between chemotherapy courses. To continue treatment and defeat cancer, Halina needs support for the next 6 months," BySol reported.
The fundraising goal was €8500:
- €6300 — apartment rent for 6 months + utilities
- €1700 — groceries for 6 months
- €500 — medications
Within a day, as of 10:30 AM on Wednesday, €9,000 has already been collected.
