Man who killed his wife stripped of inheritance rights by court
Following a lawsuit filed by the prosecutor of the Mazyr district, the court declared a man, convicted of murdering his wife, an unworthy heir and deprived him of the right to inherit from her, the Gomel region prosecutor's office reported .

In August 2025, the judicial panel for criminal cases of the Gomel Regional Court found the man guilty of murdering his wife with particular cruelty. He was sentenced under the relevant article of the Criminal Code.
After the woman's death, probate proceedings were initiated. The inheritance included an apartment in the urban-type settlement of Bolshevik, Gomel district.
The deceased woman's three children, two of whom are minors, applied for certificates of inheritance. However, since the convicted husband was registered in that apartment and was part of the family, by law he was automatically considered one of the heirs.
Given that the woman's death was the result of her husband's intentional unlawful actions, the prosecutor of the Mazyr district appealed to the Gomel District Court with a demand to declare the man an unworthy heir and exclude him from receiving the inheritance.
The court fully satisfied the prosecutor's demands. The decision has already entered into force. The man lost the right to inherit the property of his deceased wife.
