Ukraine claims strike on chemical plant in Rostov region producing rocket fuel
In the night of August 16, the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck a facility of the Russian military-industrial complex – FCP "Kamensk Combine" in Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Rostov region. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that a fire was recorded on the territory of the enterprise.
The combine produces solid rocket fuel for ammunition of "Uragan", "Smerch", and "Tornado-S" multiple rocket launcher systems, as well as for other missile and aviation systems. The enterprise's products are used to supply the Russian army.
According to open sources, "Kamensk Combine" is part of the structure of the state corporation "Rostec". Among its largest customers are the Tula NPO "SPLAV", which develops Russian MLRS, the KBP Instrument Design Bureau, and "Roscosmos".
Rostov region Governor Vasily Golubev did not directly report on the strike on the combine. He stated that five people died as a result of a missile and drone attack on the region. According to him, Kamensk-Shakhtinsky was most affected: residential buildings and administrative buildings were damaged there, and windows were blown out in an apartment building and at the railway station.
