Trump entered into an agreement with Putin on diesel fuel supplies after Zelensky ignored about six US requests to stop strikes on Russian oil refineries. An American official directly familiar with the situation informed Axios of this.
Trump's agreement with Vladimir Putin has caused a new crisis in relations with Ukraine and threatens to derail a new attempt by the Trump administration to reach an agreement on ending the war.
Yesterday, Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the news that Donald Trump had agreed with Vladimir Putin to lift sanctions on Russian diesel fuel supplies.
"There is never peace through weakness. Today, representatives of the US Congress — a bipartisan delegation — were in Kyiv. I am grateful to them for visiting Ukraine at such a difficult time. They asked: 'What does it take to end the war?' The answer must be decisive. There must be sanctions in accordance with the Lindsey Graham law, there must be support for Ukraine in defending lives, and there must be pressure on Russia for the war. And today there was a conversation between the leaders of America and Russia. A conversation that leads elsewhere," said the President of Ukraine.
He also said that Ukraine would not attack Russian oil refineries if Russia did not destroy Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
"We offer America precisely such an agreement and believe that the United States has enough influence to achieve this compromise," said Volodymyr Zelensky.
