Lifehack: how to check if berries are from Luninets or not
A resident of Mogilev bought strawberries at the market, which the seller called local. But the newspaper "Luninietskiya Naviny" (Luninets News) laid under the berries didn't allow hiding the truth. One of the commentators on the Threads post about this told an amusing story about the opposite case, when the truth came out in a different way.
A seller from the Mogilev region in Minsk wanted to prove that his goods were from Luninets. Which is not surprising, because Luninets district is the informal capital of Belarusian strawberries, and origin from there is a kind of quality mark.
However, the seller failed the simplest test:
"I am from the Luninets district. A couple of years ago in Minsk, we asked a seller where the strawberries were from?
He: 'From LunintsA (stress on 'a'),' my husband and I said in unison:
'It's clear that the seller is not from LUninets (stress on 'u')'
It turned out that we were right, the car had Mogilev license plates."
The correct name of this city in the east of the Brest region, as local residents call it, is indeed Lúninets, although non-locals often inexplicably want to say Luninétz.
