In Poland, Border Guard officers detained 11 citizens of Belarus and four citizens of Russia who had come to the country to participate in the Youth World Karate Championship for athletes under 21. The competition took place from October 14 to 18 in Bielsko-Biała, Pozirk reports .

The detainees were issued orders to leave Poland within eight days. According to Szymon Mastitski, a representative of the Silesian Department of the Border Guard, the Belarusians and Russians entered the country on tourist visas, which did not correspond to the declared purpose of their stay.
Paweł Połtorzecki, president of the Polish Karate Union, reported that organizers had received information in advance about the possible participation of Belarusian and Russian athletes who might try to compete in the championship on tourist visas, despite the ban by the World Karate Federation and the Ministry of Sport of Poland.
The first signal was the appearance of a Russian citizen at a judges' course. After this, the first detention occurred. Later, the organizers turned to the border guards with a request to check the athletes.
Belarusian state media previously reported that 25 Belarusian athletes were supposed to go to the World Championship in Bielsko-Biała. It was also reported that Belarusian Ivan Kudzinau won a gold medal at the tournament.
