Musk Admitted He Deliberately Limited Starlink and Accused Ukraine of Violating Rules
Elon Musk accused the Armed Forces of Ukraine of violating the rules for using the Starlink satellite communication system, stating that it was used for drone strikes. Thus, the founder of SpaceX explained the introduction of restrictions on the system's operation. He wrote about this on the social network X on the evening of October 24.

According to Musk, Ukrainian military personnel violated Starlink's terms of use by employing the system for offensive drone strikes that resulted in fatalities. He claims that the ability for such use was blocked last week.
The businessman stated that Starlink is a civilian commercial service not intended for military purposes. For such tasks, according to him, there is a separate Starshield system, which is under the control of the U.S. government, and decisions about its use are made by American government officials.
Musk also emphasized the exceptional importance of Starlink for Ukraine's defense. According to his assessment, it is currently the only communication system that cannot be jammed or disabled. He stated that disabling Starlink would lead to an immediate collapse of the Ukrainian front.
The businessman recalled that at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Starlink played a decisive role for Ukraine when other communication means were destroyed or suppressed by the Russian side. Musk also claims that SpaceX has done more for Ukraine's defense than any other private company in the world.
The Ukrainian side, in turn, rejected Musk's accusations. Serhiy "Flash" Beskresnov, an advisor to the President of Ukraine on the development of technological defense areas, pointed out a contradiction in the American businessman's statements. According to him, since the winter of 2026, all Starlink terminals in Ukraine, including in occupied territories, have had speed restrictions of 70-90 km/h. Additionally, Starlink does not operate in Russia.
Beskresnov stated that due to these restrictions, Ukrainian military personnel are physically unable to use the commercial Starlink system for long and medium-range drone strikes.
