Belarusian special services are gathering information about participants of the "New Belarus" conference
Belarusian security forces have intensified attempts to collect data ahead of the "New Belarus" conference, which will take place on August 8-9 in Warsaw.
According to information from the Viasna Human Rights Center, unknown individuals on social networks and messengers are writing to Belarusians, asking if they intend to attend the event and how they are preparing for it.
One such profile introduced itself as "Siarhei from Minsk". Human rights defenders identified and published the identifiers of Telegram accounts through which the inquiries are being made:
- 7215425509
- 5239146665
- 7704668859
- 7106779624
In late July, special services also tried to recruit representatives of the Coordination Council.
Human rights defenders urge Belarusians to follow digital security rules, not to respond to messages from strangers, and not to share their personal data or plans.
