The bear hunting season in the country will run from July 1 to December 31, 2026. Hunting is permitted from an ambush or by stalking, using rifled weapons, smoothbore weapons of at least 16th gauge, and hunting dogs.
According to the Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen, 445 individuals were counted in hunting grounds where bear population control is allowed in 2026. It is planned to allocate 35 bears for hunting. The bear in Belarus has a binary status — it is simultaneously a protected and a hunted animal.
Citizens with at least three years of hunting experience can participate in the hunt. The cost of a permit for members of the BSHF is 40 rubles, for other hunters — 80 rubles. A permit to hunt a bear through the lottery costs 1000 rubles, and within hunting tours — from 6000 rubles per individual.
Raffles will be held weekly on Tuesdays or Wednesdays to determine hunters for the upcoming weekend. Winners will be selected using a special program, and after obtaining the right to hunt, their applications will be removed from the list of participants to ensure equal opportunities for others.
