In Ukraine and Russia, notification systems were hacked. People received messages about chemical danger and nuclear threat
On the evening of November 1st, the Ukrainian "Air Alert" application began sending warnings about nuclear and chemical danger, as well as street fighting. A few hours later, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MCHS) reported the hacking of its application – Russians were warned about the threat of a nuclear strike.

What Happened in Ukraine
The first false notifications started coming at 22:47 Kyiv time on Sunday. They claimed that a red level air alert was declared throughout Ukraine, writes BBC.
A minute later, users received a message in Russian: "Hello! Throughout Ukraine, there will now be a nuclear alert. Don't worry, 'Oreshnik' is flying!"

Residents of Kyiv and other cities also received warnings about radiation contamination, chemical attacks, and street fighting, with a call not to go outside.
The Air Force of Ukraine soon stated that the application "experienced hostile influence."
"There is no radiation threat! Stay calm, follow our messages on our channel!" — the military reported.
According to reports, in the Lviv region, due to an app malfunction, the radiation danger signal also sounded from street loudspeakers. Local authorities stated that there was no such threat.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine later reported that the national notification system was operating normally. Residents were urged to follow official announcements from local authorities and loudspeaker signals.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine announced the temporary deactivation of "Air Alert."
The developers confirmed unauthorized interference: they disabled push notifications and suspended the app's operation.
"The application does not store personal data, so there is no threat to users. Please do not under any circumstances click on links from suspicious notifications," — the program team stated.
Overnight, a message appeared that its operation was gradually being restored.
What Happened in Russia
Around two o'clock in the morning Moscow time, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MCHS) reported a cyberattack on its mobile application.
"The attackers managed to distribute fake information to the population," — the agency stated.
Users received, among other things, warnings about the threat of a nuclear strike.
The MCHS reported that it was eliminating the vulnerability and restoring the application's operation. At the same time, the agency emphasized: the hack did not affect the main public notification system. Sirens, loudspeakers, SMS, television, and radio are used for it.
According to the Ukrainian publication UNN, responsibility for hacking the Russian application was claimed by the partisan movement "Atesh." It published a screenshot of a message with a call to urgently stock up on food for three weeks and hide in basements. The BBC notes that it could not confirm the authenticity of this screenshot.
