Tomatoes for Br55 and more. What are the prices at Christmas Komarovka Market?

It has gotten quite cold outside, but the low temperature doesn't stop people from shopping at Komarovka.

There is practically everything here. However, the prices can be very surprising.

Tochka.by journalists looked at what Komarovka is like now and what is being sold at the seasonal market in such frosty weather.

Displays are overflowing

We first visited the main market. In general, there are enough vegetables and fruits, but, of course, there are fewer of them – it's off-season.

New Year's pineapples cost Br12.9–30 per 1 kg. There are also many citrus fruits. Oranges can be found at very pleasant prices – Br4.9–25, lemons – Br4.9–30.

As for mandarins, the selection is excellent. Prices range from Br3.9 to Br25.

Grapes are also well represented. The cheapest will be sold to you for Br3.9, while expensive bunches are almost Br40.

It is most profitable to buy bananas, which are available for Br2.9. More expensive ones can also be found – Br7.9.

The selection of apples is small – Br3.5–6. There are almost no pears, they cost Br8.9–25, and kiwis – Br9.9–46. It is also still very profitable to buy persimmons – for Br2.9–25 per 1 kg.

Golden Tomatoes

However, prices for some vegetables have jumped significantly. For example, eggplants cost about Br14.9 per 1 kg, and zucchini – Br9.9.

The price of tomatoes, one of the most popular vegetables on the market, can vary significantly. Some vendors are not shy about selling them for Br55 per kilo.

The saleswoman, by the way, was very unhappy that price tags were being photographed. "Why are you taking pictures?" she asked.

But there are places in the market where tomatoes are sold for only Br3.9 per kilo. Many options are in the Br8–15 range.

Cucumbers are also not cheap. The simplest ones cost Br6.9, while luxurious crunchy varieties are Br24.9.

You can also buy peppers at good prices – Br7.9–15. However, there is practically no cheap greens – everything starts from Br25 per 1 kg.

Mushrooms (champignons), one of the most affordable types of mushrooms, cost from Br9.5 to Br12. There are some chanterelles for Br40.

Potatoes, as usual, come in various varieties. A cheap option costs Br0.99, a more expensive one – Br2.8.

Prices for other popular vegetables: white cabbage – Br1.5–2.99, onions – Br1.5–3.5, carrots – Br0.5–4, beets – Br0.99–4.

There are many pickles. The most relevant: sauerkraut – Br8–12 per kilo, pickled cucumbers – Br6–15.

Meat and Dairy Paradise

If you want to buy poultry, the prices are high. Chickens cost Br38–45 per 1 kg, turkey – Br25, quail – Br40–45.

There are also rabbits for Br32–35 per kilo.

Lamb will be sold in the range of Br24–45 per 1 kg, beef – Br18–35, pork – Br9.5–26.

As for sausages, there is a wider selection than in a store, but they are more expensive. On average, they cost Br35–69 per kilo. Salo (cured fatback) will cost Br26–40.

An excellent selection of Belarusian and foreign cheeses. They are slightly cheaper than in hypermarkets. Prices start from Br14.3 per 1 kg. On average, Belarusian cheeses cost Br18–28, improved ones – up to Br50.

There are also exquisite foreign options for Br100–200.

Crabs, Fish, and Caviar

What Belarusian holiday is complete without red fish? Prices for such a salted delicacy are Br100–300 per 1 kg.

Cans of red caviar cost Br40–100 for 100 g. There is also black caviar – Br150 for 50 g.

As for Kamchatka crab, 230 g costs Br150, and half a kilo – Br250. Freshly frozen trout is sold for Br49.9–64.99 per kilo.

What's at the seasonal market?

It's all semi-empty here. There are still rows with New Year's toys. Their prices have not changed.

Live Christmas trees are also actively sold. The simplest options cost Br25–30 per piece, more expensive ones – Br60–120, branches – Br10–20.

As for food, you can also buy pickles here. Lots of mushrooms for Br40–120 per kilo.
