The USA is offering a reward of up to 10 million dollars for information about key leaders of the IRGC and its subdivisions, reports the State Department.
This announcement appeared against the backdrop of a prolonged military campaign by the USA and Israel against Iran and after the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking Iranian officials.
«The IRGC, which is part of Iran's official armed forces, plays a central role in Iran's use of terrorism as a primary instrument of state policy», — the statement reads. The State Department emphasizes that the IRGC is responsible for numerous attacks on Americans and US facilities, including those that led to the deaths of US citizens.
«Since its founding in 1979, the IRGC has played a significant role in implementing Iran's foreign policy. Currently, this organization controls a significant portion of the Iranian economy and has great influence on the country's domestic policy», — the agency notes.
In particular, the American government is interested in information about Iran's new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei, as well as about the deputy head of his staff Ali Asghar Hejazi, military advisor Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, advisor Ali Larijani, Minister of Interior Eskandar Momeni, and Minister of Intelligence and Security Esmail Khatib.
Additionally, the USA is seeking information about four unnamed IRGC officials whose photographs have not been added.
