Belarusian Customs Officers Found an Amount Six Times Larger Than Allowed in a Train Passenger
A criminal case was initiated against a train passenger for the illegal transportation of a large sum of money across the border, reported the Hrodna Regional Customs.

A 60-year-old man was traveling by train on the Kaliningrad — Adler route through the Gudagay border crossing point. During the questioning, he stated that he was not carrying any cash.
However, during a check, in the pocket of a jacket that was on the shelf in the compartment, they found more than 53 thousand euros and over 6 thousand Russian rubles.
A criminal case was initiated under the article for the illegal movement of large amounts of money. Under the law, this may incur a fine, restriction of liberty, or deprivation of liberty for up to 5 years.
Customs authorities remind that when transporting sums exceeding the equivalent of 10 thousand dollars across the border, mandatory declaration is required. If the amount exceeds 30 thousand dollars and is not declared, criminal liability ensues.
