The regional center of Belarus with the highest radiation level named

Belhydromet noted that the radiation situation in the country is stable and remains at the level of the natural radiation background. However, the radiation level in regional cities differs.
As of June 18, 2026, the highest radiation level among regional centers was unexpectedly recorded in Vitebsk — 0.11 µSv/h (microsieverts per hour). In Brest, Gomel, Grodno, Minsk, and Mogilev, the values are identical — 0.1 µSv/h.
Higher levels are recorded at monitoring stations. In Bragin, the gamma radiation dose rate was 0.46 µSv/h, in Slavgorod — 0.18 µSv/h. Belhydromet states that these indicators correspond to established long-term values. And such a background is precisely associated with the Chernobyl accident.
It will be easiest to compare these figures with an X-ray. The dose from a single chest X-ray examination in an adult is about 0.1 mSv, or 100 µSv, writes smartpress.by.
At a level of 0.46 µSv/h, recorded in Bragin, a person would receive such a dose in approximately 217 hours — about 9 days of continuous presence at this point. At a level of 0.10 µSv/h — in approximately 1000 hours, which is almost 42 days.
