“Shanghai” – part of the former "Valadarka" – is being demolished in Minsk
Pishchalauski Castle (the former Pre-trial Detention Center No. 1, also known as "Valadarka") will be transformed into cafes, and cultural and public events will also be held there.

After reconstruction, a multifunctional complex will appear on this territory. According to the developed concept, it is planned to preserve 5 buildings that are historical and cultural values: the castle itself, a one-story building behind it, and first-line objects from Valadarskaha Street, which are currently hidden behind a fence. Later additions and the fence will be dismantled.
As for the purpose of the buildings, they will house catering facilities and administrative premises. The operators will be "Minatel", "Aqua-Minsk", "Belkoopsoyuz", business center "Stolitsa", shopping center "Stolitsa", "Kommunarka".
Meanwhile, Blizko.by received photos: buildings are being demolished around Pishchalauski Castle itself.
Judging by the photos, a two-story building on the side of the factory-kitchen is being dismantled, to which the former pre-trial detention center building, conditionally named "Shanghai," adjoins.

This is what the former castle will look like as a result. The main stage of reconstruction is promised to begin this year.
