In early March, some regions of Belarus are experiencing flooding caused by rapid snowmelt and rising water levels in rivers. According to operational data on March 6, cases of flooding by meltwaters have been recorded in 11 districts of four regions, reports the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Since the beginning of the year, 16 private residential buildings, 39 homesteads, and 8 outbuildings, as well as 8 basements of residential buildings and 2 other structures, have been in the flood zone.
In the Hrodna region, 8 residential buildings, 27 homesteads, and 6 basements have been flooded in seven districts. In the Minsk region, water has affected 7 houses and 7 homesteads. In the Brest region, flooding of 4 homesteads and 2 basements has been recorded. In the Homiel region, 1 residential building and 1 homestead have been affected.
According to Belhydromet, spring hydrological processes are continuing on most rivers in the country. In the basins of the Dvina, Dnipro, Berezina, Sozh, and Pripyat, as well as on individual sections of the Neman and Viliya, ice or ice with open water remains. Its thickness ranges from 12 to 43 centimeters. Water levels continue to gradually rise, in places up to 28 centimeters per day.
