Hungarian government published interrogation of opposition party's IT specialist, who allegedly confessed to being recruited by Ukraine
The Hungarian government released a video fragment of the interrogation of a former IT specialist of the opposition Tisza party, stating that he confessed to an attempt by Ukraine to recruit him, although the recording itself did not show this. An almost hour-long video of the interrogation of the 19-year-old, named Gundalf, appeared on the government's YouTube channel.

During the conversation, the young man confessed that after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, he "deeply sympathized" with civilians, so he joined a community of specialists who prevented Russian cyberattacks on Ukrainian systems, writes "European Pravda."
He added that he stopped participating after the actions "radicalized" and allegedly could have been aimed not against Russia, but would have indirectly harmed Hungary.
When asked about foreign connections, the young man replied that he is studying to be an information security engineer at the NATO-accredited Estonian Cyber Security Centre, and visited the Estonian embassy in Budapest, where he spoke with someone, but could not recall exactly with whom.
The next part of the video was filmed later, as evidenced by the change in the young man's clothes. He states that after his last conversation with the investigator, he "thought a lot" and believes that he probably encountered an attempt at recruitment.
He mentions his visit to Kyiv in 2023, made for volunteer purposes, where a meeting was organized for members of the IT community.
The contact person was a man who introduced himself as Davydov. According to the IT specialist, he looked like a "stereotypical gangster." Davydov offered them to join a team to help Ukraine fight cyberattacks. Gundalf suggested that Davydov "wanted to involve" the meeting participants in something.
After the recording was published, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that a member of Tisza confessed to being recruited by Ukrainians: "There are no more questions. The Tisza IT specialist admitted that he was recruited by Ukrainians. His testimony is public, everyone can listen to it. Hungarian counter-intelligence did its duty. We will protect the peace and security of Hungary."
In turn, party leader Péter Magyar called it an organized special services operation against the opposition. He emphasized that even if there were recruitment attempts, the young man rejected them.
Recall that this week Orbán accused Ukraine of "infiltrating spies" into the ranks of Tisza and demanded they be "taken home."
