Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that during her weekend visit to several Arab Gulf countries, she would discuss the topic of oil supplies to Italian consumers.
"My visit is a gesture of solidarity with countries that are our friends. Of course, my task will also be to secure the necessary energy resources for Italy," Corriere della Sera quoted her as saying.
Meloni reminded that she had previously visited Algeria, where she discussed gas supplies to Italy. "Now I am visiting the Persian Gulf to talk, first and foremost, about oil," added the head of the Italian government.
According to her, during the talks, she will also pay attention to the topic of the Strait of Hormuz blockade due to the armed conflict between the USA and Israel with Iran.
On Friday evening, Meloni arrived in Saudi Arabia. On Saturday, she has scheduled talks with the Saudi leadership, as well as visits to the UAE and Qatar.
