Ukraine Appoints Official Responsible for Cooperation with Belarus
This is Yaroslav Chornohor, Director of the Program for Russian and Belarusian Studies at the Foreign Policy Council "Ukrainian Prism".

Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has appointed Yaroslav Chornohor, Director of the Program for Russian and Belarusian Studies at the Foreign Policy Council "Ukrainian Prism", to the position created for interaction with the Belarusian opposition, writes "Ukrainska Pravda".
Yaroslav Chornohor will take the position of Ambassador-at-Large for democratic transformations, interaction with democratic forces and national movements of unfriendly countries.
In January, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the idea of creating the position of Special Representative for Belarus.
According to "European Pravda", the search for a candidate was delayed, which is why Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's announced visit to Kyiv in March was postponed.
The appointment of Yaroslav Chornohor as ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will allow, without waiting for this appointment, to improve interaction with the Belarusian opposition, given the warming in relations between it and official Kyiv, writes UP.
Yaroslav Chornohor is a Candidate of Historical Sciences. The scope of his research covers topical issues of Ukraine's foreign policy, information security, countering Russian propaganda and disinformation, as well as analytics on the study of Belarus and Russia, political processes in these countries and their further transformation.
It is most likely that this appointment will also unblock preparations for the visit.
Earlier, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Heorhii Tikhyi stated that the appointment of a special representative for Belarus would allow better coordination of "pressure on the regime, neutralization of threats emanating from it, and support for democratic Belarusians who want to live in a democratic European Belarus."
